An invitation from the Totnes Make Votes Matter team!
Totnes Make Votes Matter (MVM) group are participating in the national MVM’s action day ‘Wake up, Westminster!’ on Saturday June 13. We will be meeting at 11:00 at Vire Island, by the old bridge very close to The Plains (TQ9 5DW). Our plan is to do a banner drop from the old bridge; you may remember we did a similar event in August 2020.
We will be joined on the day by the MP for South Devon, Caroline Voaden, who is a firm supporter of PR and a member of the All Party Parliamentary group for Fair Elections.
We’d love to have you join in, as we know there is a huge amout of support for the campaign in Totnes and South Devon. We need as many people on the day as possible to send a clear message to Westminster!
The Make Votes Matter Wake up Westminster action sends a strong message that we are sleepwalking into chaos, by continuing to ignore the fact that multiple parties competing for votes in a two party system is creating increasingly disproportionate and chaotic results!
Make Votes Matter have action days happening up and down the country in June, whilst the representation of the people bill is in its final reading stage. The bill brings some welcome reform, but misses out Proportional Representation completely.
Now is the time to come along and show your support for PR – together we can send a powerful message that reform without PR will not bring about the politics and representation we all deserve.
So please join us if you can with a bell, an alarm clock, a horn or just be ready to set a noisy alarm on your phone! Friends and family are all welcome. This should be a fun way to create some great videos and photos to send a serious message that it’s high time for Westminster to wake up!
