Beware the Blabberwock…a Jabberwock for our times

Blabberwocky. (with apologies to Lewis Carroll)

‘Twas Cummig and the Slithy Gove

Did plot and scheme for power, backstabe.

All mimsy were the wily SpAds,

And full of faux outrage.

“Beware the Blabberwock, my son!

The tongue that lies, the mouth that blags !

Beware the TrussTruss bird, and shun

The frumious Jenrick and his flags!”

Grieve took his sword of truth in hand;

Long time the noisome foe he sought –

So rested he by the Sunak tree

And stood awhile in thought

And as in uffish thought he stood,

The Blabberwock, with eyes of flame,

Came waffling, claiming victimhood

And burbling out its blame!

“I’ve done my best’ the creature lied

I’ve paid the bill, I’ve broke no law!”

“You’re full of sleaze” St.Grieve replied

“And every day there’s more”

The Blabberwock messed up its hair

And charged towards the Sunak tree

But Grieve stood ready to declare

“You vacuum of integrity!”

One, two! One, two! And through and through

The blade of truth went snicker-snack!

He left it dead, and with its head

He went triumphant back.

“And hast thou slain the Blabberwock?

Come to our arms, our beamish boy!

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”

We chortled in our joy.

‘Twas Cummig and the Slithy Gove

Did plot and scheme for power backstabe

All mimsy were the wily SpAds,

And full of faux outrage.
