The Little Black Book of Data and Democracy: WCB author event

Join us on 13 July at 18:30 when we will be discussing ‘The Little Black Book of Data and Democracy’ with its author, Kyle Taylor. The event is free and whilst it would be best if you had read the short book before, it’s not a prerequisite. You’ll almost certainly want to read it afterwards!

“If you aren’t paying for the product, then you are the product.”

Data is the new oil – our personal information is being exploited and traded to make money, to manipulate our thoughts and actions and to control the narrative. Increasingly, we are living in a world of parallel ‘realities’ created by the social media we consume and share. This is deepening division and tribalism in our society and politics with disturbing ramifications for democracy, privacy and freedom.

We are delighted to be able to give our readers the chance to discuss what is going on and what we can do to stem the tide with one of the world’s experts in the subject: Kyle Taylor.

Kyle is the former Director of Hacked Off and Founder and Director of Fair Vote UK, which published whistleblower evidence of Vote Leave’s lawbreaking in the EU referendum and supported Chris Wylie’s whistleblower revelations around Cambridge Analytica’s global data theft and misappropriation. He is an expert on digital democracy reform and platform regulation.

Kyle was the Campaign Director and Chief of Staff to a UK government minister and has worked on half a dozen election campaigns in the UK and the USA, including the 2016 US Presidential Campaign and the 2020 US Georgia Senate Runoff. He is a graduate of American University and the London School of Economics.
